Daily Training Update (3/23/05)

Another two-fer: a 60 minute swim and 45 minute strength workout.

The swim was a very simple (in concept, not in execution) 4X600 swim, with each 600 offering a different focus and/or drill.

I'm in the so-called "Strength Maintenance" (SM) phase of training, which focuses on maintaining muscular strength (presuming you have some strength to maintain and no snide remarks please!) The workout called for 2 sets of 12 reps at 60% of my 1 rep max (1RM), then a third set of 6-12 reps at 80% of 1RM.

If I recall correctly, I did bicep curls, back extensions, tricep extensions, single-leg squats, chest presses, shoulder presses, atomic situps and 1-minute core holds. A concluding 10-minute spin brought the day's festivities to a close.

Thai for lunch with an esteemed colleague from my PPE (prior place of employment) and now sushi for dinner. Daughter #4 (the only one left at home) decided that dinner out with friends sounded better. Bet she'd have stayed home if we'd ordered a pizza!
