February Shout-Outs

February is Heart Month, and I don’t mean that shopworn Hallmarkiday. No, I mean the ticker, the pump, the myocardial machine, that thingie in your chest going “pitter-patter” whenever short dresses meet long legs.

Kick off Heart Month with National Wear Red Day to show support for women's heart disease awareness. Now that you’re in the Heart Month mood, say ‘hi’ to Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, National Cardiovascular Professionals Week, Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Week and National Women's Heart Health Day. See? So many opportunities to show how much you care! And no stupid cards to buy.

It’s also National Girls and Women in Sports Day (Go team!), National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week and National Porphyria Week. The 3rd is Give Kids A Smile Day …how cool is that? If we celebrated more days with smiles we’d, er, need to celebrate less days with smiles…or something like that. Oh, just smile a lot. That’s better.

Oh yeah, the 12th through the 18th is also National Condom Week. Hallmark must be diversifying.
