Now THAT'S An Ironman!

I talked to a woman today during the post-race meal about her experience in last year's IMMOO. Another biker accidentally forced her off the road and she went headfirst into a steel bridge. After waiting 45 minutes for an ambulance, being stitched up and evaluated for a possible concussion, she resumed the race in time to have 4 (!!) flat tires. She was only carrying 2 tubes and had to depend on the kindness of other racers for 2 additional. After all that she missed the cut-off time and had to drop out of the race.

She promises to be back in 2005; I have no doubt she will be.
