Back from Colorado. Yesterday I was sitting on the deck overlooking a golf course, enjoying a sunny 60-degree day and a view of distant snow-capped peaks. Today I've been transported back to the cold, grey, frozen Suburban Outback (by the Unfriendly Skies...more about that later.) My schedule is flexible enough that I could've stayed in Colorado for another week. WHAT WAS I THINKING?
Today's schedule called for a 60-minute swim and a 40-minute run. I had just completed 700 meters in the pool when I remembered leaving something on the stove...with the heat on. Frantic pool exit. Many broken traffic laws. Much cursing and self-berating. A friend who lives close by, though, saved the day and after I cleaned up the mess...
..I needed the run to figuratively chill out a bit. 4 miles at a nice easy, Zone 1-2 pace and now I'm home to poach some salmon for dinner. Hopefully I'll remember to turn off the stove when I'm done.
I once told Karyn - in jest, I thought - that I was afflicted with some sort of attention deficit disorder. Hah. Enough jesting for me! I'll add the swim to tomorrow's workout. If I remember.
