Now there's a headline you don't see every day: "...athlete injured when tree falls on cyclists during Calif. triathlon." In fact, several Vineman racers suffered injuries when a large oak tree picked an inopportune moment to crash down across the road.
As I've said before, life in the Great Suburban Outback is fraught enough with peril, and that's with limiting my training worries to cellphone-distracted drivers and the occasional road-crossing deer. Now I have to add falling trees to the 'uh-oh' list.
Here's hoping the injured are on the mend and soon racing once again.
