Tri-Daughter #3 flies in to the Great Plains today for a short visit. We're driving back to the Great Suburban Outback on Monday where she'll head back to school and I'll spend a week networking and preparing to move. The Great Plains loft is sold; I'll miss it and my favorite little wine bar, but one of these days I'll see the Plains receding in the rearview mirror for the last time. And there's lots I won't miss.
As I write this, a debate is raging over the possible rebuilding vs. relocating of the Great Plains' depressingly minor-league baseball stadium. One proposal has it relocating to a parking lot near my loft, and of that proposal, a city representative (who obviously doesn't get out much...) said "it'd create an attraction similar to Chicago's Navy Pier." OK. JUST like Navy Pier except for Lake Michigan to the east, a world-class skyline to the west, north and south, and a world-class city all-around. But what the hell. Go for it.
I wonder if anybody here ever reads Sinclair Lewis? Just askin...
Out for a run in the sun.

Run In the Sun
iPod Shuffle: "Rag Doll" by Sonia Dada, from "Test Pattern." And "Money Talks" by J.J. Cale, from "J.J. Cale Live." Maybe J.J. reads Sinclair Lewis...
