Blows Against the Empire

Now that I'm no longer a corporate puke, I'm free to buy whatever computer and use whatever software I damn well please. And it pleases me greatly to report that I struck an admittedly modest blow against The Borg (a.k.a. Microsoft and corporate IT departments noisily suckling at the Microsoft tit) last week when I ponied up my own money for an Apple MacBook Pro. I spent a little more and got a new iPod nano, too. Merry Christmas to me!

iPod #1 has 6,000+ songs. The nano is only up to 900 and if you want to know what's there you'll have to keep reading since I intend to get back to the habit of adding an "iPod shuffle" addendum to each post from now on. Suggestions for what SHOULD be there are welcome, as always.

(Extra points to all readers who can remember the eponymous record album that inspired the above title. Though I'm told that if you can remember the '60s you weren't really there!)

iPod shuffle: "Bread and Wine" by the Cowboy Junkies, from "Open." My favorite Junkies record in years. Next: "I Know You By Heart" by Eva Cassidy, from "Songbird." One of my all-time favorite voices. How tragic that it was stilled by cancer a few years ago.
