Fit Doesn’t Have To Mean Thin

It’s power-to-weight that counts. Explains why, in last year’s Horribly Hilly Hundreds ride, lots of more, ahem, rotund riders kicked my skinny ass all over the course. (From the NY Times. Free registration required.)

Word 'o the day: Flabbergasted (adj.): appalled over how much weight you have gained. (As in “I be flabbergasted!”)

Great article - thanks for the link! So very true that cycling is much more forgiving than other sports. Still, I always felt that the fact that I'm a bigger person slows me down on hills. However, a week ago I was going up a steep hill and a woman bigger than me whizzed by me going twice as fast. Hmmmm...another excuse out the window....
